Lake Cowichan has its first tea house.

Lil’s Tea An-Tiques, owned by Linda Henry, opened last month at 56 South Shore Rd.

Henry said the business serves high tea in the same fashion as Victoria’s Empress Hotel does in which a three-tiered platter consisting of sandwiches, pastries and fruit is served along with a pot of tea, followed by desserts.

Henry said the dining room has elegant tables and a huge chandelier hangs in the middle.

“The tea house also features refurbished furniture that I work on at my other business, called Lunar Witchery Creations,” she said.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to open my own tea house so my two sons and I have been working hard for the past year and half to create one on South Shore Road in a building that has been abandoned for the past 25 years.”

Henry, who also reads tarot cards and tea leaves, said business has been good since she opened and she believes Lil’s Tea An-Tiques is catching on because a lot of people are curious about the end result of all the construction work that has taken place there for more than a year, and the fact that it’s the only tea house in the region.

Lil’s Tea An-Tiques is currently open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and is closed on Mondays.

Henry said reservations are recommended.
